redPear Acquires Local Web Development Firm OpenRain

TEMPE, Arizona (November 2, 2009) – Local web services and software company redPear is proud to announce the acquisition of OpenRain, a Mesa-based web services and software firm known for their Ruby on Rails and Android development. As part of the acquisition, former OpenRain CTO Marc Chung will be joining the redPear team in his new role as the company’s Chief Technology Officer, bringing his ingenuity and years of experience building world class solutions.

Brandon Willey, CEO of redPear, expressed his excitement about this partnership earlier today, “We consider this a great opportunity to merge the resources of redPear and OpenRain to develop a truly unique experience in the world of website design and custom software. Phoenix has continued to prove itself as an exciting ground for start-ups and new ideas. We believe this acquisition to play a vital role in what Phoenix has to offer moving forward, merging experience and knowledge in a dynamic fashion.”

Regarding the acquisition and the opportunities ahead, Chung stated, “I have always enjoyed being on a team of crazy-smart, energetic, like-minded individuals. This is the perfect place for that. I’ve always been a fan of redPear and I’m excited by the opportunity to support and grow their vision.”

As part of the acquisition, redPear will continue servicing all existing clients of OpenRain and honoring all previous agreements. All previous support of OpenRain’s projects and contracts, including training, will also continue. “Clients will see a seamless transition in quality, services and end product. We are not seeking to revamp what has been done, but to expand the experience for all involved,” according to Willey.

redPear, based out of Tempe, Arizona, was founded in 2006. The company specializes in website creation, iPhone applications and custom web-based software. Their latest creation, Vyllij, is a web-based relationship management application.
